“You’re Degrading Womanhood” Lagos Deputy Governor Fires Iyanya’s Dancers (Photos)

Posted on Updated on

In an attempt to track down details of the new deal Iyanya signed with Solo Phone Nigeria, I stumbled across this photos and story (from MetroNaija) that I just couldn’t pass up posting. “It was a beautiful performance from the sensational
artiste, Iyanya and his dancers but the end was so hilarious when the Lagos State Deputy
Governor, Orelope Adefulire fired iyanya’s female
dancers.
Deputy Governor: I guess you are professional
dancers?
Iyanya’s Dancers: Yes ma!
Deputy Governor: If you must entertain without
pants on, certainly not in a gathering like this. Just
see how you are disgracing and degrading
womanhood. Don’t try it again.
Iyanya’s Dancers: Yes ma!”

Chidinma – “I’d Rather Date Dammy Krane Than Wizkid, Iyanya Or Davido”

Posted on Updated on

In a recent interview with HipHopWorld, singer
Chidinma declare that she’d pick Hypertek
singer Dammy Krane over other industry young
bloods like Davido or Wizkid.
Excerpts from her interview below.
If you must, who would you date amongst
Iyanya, Wizkid, Dammykrane and Davido.
Iyanya has the body. Davido has the money,
Wizkid is the Starboy, DammyKrane is a sweet,
cute guy. I’ll probably go with DammyKrane.
What’s up with you and DammyKrane.
Dammy Krane is my friend, he is everybody’s
friend, and he’s funny and crazy. Before I shot
the Video, I had a lot of options to play my love
interest in the Video but I didn’t like any. Then
someone said there was this new guy and then
they played his song and I liked it. Sometime
later, we were at Cool FM and I spotted him
jumping about and being very playful. He was
so energetic; I liked him instantly and wanted
him as my love interest in the video. So my
manager called him up, he was so nice, he came
over, we talked and he told me the day we were
going to shoot the Video was his birthday. Then I
got scared that he might not make it.
Unfortunately, on the day of the shoot, he got
robbed that morning but he still made it to the
shoot and then left after his part. We’ve been
friends ever since
Your Lovey-dovey Picture with Phyno went
viral
It did! Less than 20 minutes after we put up the
picture on Instagram, it just went crazy and we
were not even in Lagos; we were in Abuja. We
went for the Hennessy Artistry and we were at
the airport before we went to the hotel, so we
were just taking pictures then before we knew
it, it was everywhere. It was kind of funny
because we were just two people sitting
somewhere and making the industry talk.

Being an ambassador for Zinox, Iyanya will reportedly and most definately be on their billboards from now on and is expected to compose a special song for their products (hope he comes up with something that shows him off as the dextrous/skillful singer from the 1st Season of Mtn Project Fame West Africa in ’08….I’ve missed that as a singer….ijs). Apart from being present at every Zinox launch/event, Iyanya’s music will be built in every laptop produced till the deal expires in 12 months.

Iyanya Scores $350,000 Endorsement Deal With Nigeria’s Zinox Computers

Singer Iyanya seems to be on a roll, barely weeks after signing with MTN for 60 million naira, the Kukere crooner has just reportedly signed a deal with Zinox computers for $350,000. FACT: Zinox Computers Founded in 2001 by a team of ICT Technocrats led by Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh, is the pioneer manufacturer of Nigeria’s First Internationally Certified Branded Computers.
Iyanya himself, quite astonished at the way his bank account is growing, tweeted “Money dey this country sha…” (for the ‘broken/pidgin english’ anaemics, he said “there really is money in this country”) which I now reply to with a “DUH”…… BTW, Congrats.

“I Didn’t Lose My Virginity To Don Jazzy or Date Iyanya” Says Tonto Dikey on Rubbing Minds with Ebuka Uchendu Obi

Posted on Updated on

Popular Nollywood actress & singer Tonto Dikeh today appeared Yesterday on Y! Naija’s “Rubbing Minds” program on Channels TV.
The fair-skinned Perto-chemical Engineering Graduate talked about a lot of things from her music career, “bleeching” and indian hemp controversy to her rumoured relationship with Don Jazzy and Iyanya, with show host Ebuka Uchendu Obi.
On stealing Iyanya from Yvonne Nelson, Dikeh said she never even knew Iyanya on a personal level.
“When I hear people say I have dated Iyanya before, I find that funny. I mean, this is someone I have only met once or twice. I am a fan of his music in the same way, he is a also a fan, but if I don’t even know him personally, how do I date him?”
Sporting a very calm demeanor and all black ensemble unlike the Tontolet most know on social media, she also
cleared the air about her relationship with Mavins boss Don Jazzy, saying they were just friends, and that it was a fake account that had tweeted the false information.
She spoke about her tattoos, saying that she had 58 different ink patterns on her, each representing a specific event in her life.
When asked whether she could sing, Tonto replied curtly, “I think I can make music work.”

“I’d die for Yvonne Nelson and Dust Off Tonto Dikey” says Iyanya

Posted on Updated on

Iyanya was a guest on Channel Tv’s Youth Program, “Rubbing Minds” yesterday afternoon where he stated to the host of the show, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, “I would dine with Genevieve, die for Yvonne Nelson and dust off Tonto Dikeh”. 1st of all, what does ‘dust off’ mean? Secondly, seeing Yvonne Nelson’s picture @ the Premier of her 3rd self produced movie “House of Gold” held at Silverbird Cinemas in a beautiful Mai Atafo gown on Friday July 19th, I surely won’t doubt anyone who says he’ll die for this screen goddess.

A Fan’s Open Letter to D’banj (a must read!!!)

Posted on Updated on

Just stumbled across this open letter on 360nobs that has gone kinda viral on naija social media platforms addressed to 33 year old musician D’banj from a concerned and well meaning fan…. Read and don’t forget to drop your thoughts as comments. Dear Oyebanjo, Dapo Daniel AKA D’Banj, I am seated at a local restaurant here at the university town of Nsukka, in Enugu State, Nigeria, drinking a bottle of Fayrouz and listening to the sound of the generator, which is the only source of electricity around here.I have watched your latestmusic video. I went through the rigour last night. It is the video of the song entitled “Don’t Tell Me Nonsense” and it was awfully disgusting, the song, I mean. Kaffy and the rest of the dancers didn’t disappoint in the video.

This is bad, I know, using awful and disgusting, in same sentence. But that is what I feel about what I saw. Brother, D’Banj, a lot has changed since you left your brother and hustle partner, Ajereh, Michael Collins AKA Don Jazzy. Truth. Your songs have been nothing but trash. I wonder if anyone has said anything nice to you since you started making songs outside Don Jazzy. If they have, it must have been for that singular hit song entitled ‘Oliver Twist.’ Kai! That song swept through Nigeria and the rest of the world. You would not believe that the ordinary child on the streets of Nsukka knows the lyrics of that song and the dance steps too.In Nigeria, there are plenty factors that weigh us down. One is our inability to manage our weaknesses. I see you have been buying yourself expensive jewelleries.

The other day, I saw on a blog that you wear a wristwatch worth my entire family and maybe inheritance. I commend your taste. You are a lucky and hardworking man. You deserve it, besides; ‘Oliver Twist’ made marks. It took the Nigerian music to a height that had never been seen in recent times. Its toping charts, downloads, Youtube views and itunes purchases are amongst the few things I can mention.Dear, D’Banj, Don Jazzy may not be an ideal partner, I bet you, no one is an ideal partner! Perfect couples quarrel and make up. It is the joy of having such union. I believe misunderstanding is part of us, as humans.

I will run to the zoo the day I see a union that agrees on almost everything.Back to your music, Ifeel Don Jazzy was made to make good music with you. He may not only be your producer, but whatever input, from advice, to production, will go a long way. Besides, he has been miserable too, without you. I have seen his eyes in music videos. There is one he did with Tiwa Savage. Ah, Tiwa. She looked dazzling, while Don Jazzy looked wanting and dispirited. Tiwa may have a perfect voice but Don Jazzy has not been able to achieve what he did with you. The other boys, K-Switch, Wande Coal and the goody bag crooner, D’Prince are unfortunate learners. They must be stark illiterates to have taken sides when you guys parted.

I understand their ignorance. But my concern here is, if you wish to stay relevant in the sight of Nigerians, making good music, and not caressing a stripper on stage on your birthday, then you have to make amends with Don Jazzy and understand that people argue because they are beneficial to themselves.

Only dummies agree on everything. I think tribalism had a lot to play in your split. It is a sad reality, if I am right. Tribalism will eventually destroy Nigeria. Our young people think they belong to a superior tribe and so make silly comments which sometimes bring about misconception and then crisis. I once had a boss, who is Igbo, who felt my tribe’s men were lazy, just because she came to my state and saw a job and was privileged to be a high ranking staff. I have had people who think those from the north should be gatekeepers and cobblers.

Someone called me a militant once in Abuja, at the Sheraton, when he discovered I was from the Niger-Delta. I forgave his gross stupidity. I think we should drink a cup of water when ignorant people say rubbish about our personalities or flaws and relate it to tribe. You are a great young man, D’Banj. Few people have attained the height you have. I am encouraged to pursue what I am currently pursuing because I know I will triumph. Your likes and that of 2Face Idibia, despite your weaknesses are heroes. And you must recall that Kanye West met you because he had heard good stuff from you. When nothing good manifests, he may be forced to give you a new job description at Good Music, which may be mopping of the floor of the studio. This evil will not befall you.

If you believe it, type amen. D’Banj, pride is the worst enemy of any man who wishes to last longer anywhere. A drop of arrogance may work, but pride is detrimental. You were called the ‘entertainer’ because you offered entertainment. Today, Inyanya, Kcee, Flavour, Wizkid and Davido are doing better. Imagine Burna-Boy, chai, that boy has some senses oh. His music, even when he is talking nonsense makes you want to sit and listen or dance to it, as the case may be. The only person that is yet to outshine you is my dearest sister, Tontolet Dike. That girl needs Jesus. I have to go back to my drink. I paid for it and it is almost missing me. I enjoy your struggle or hustle, as you may choose to call it. I wish to hear something profound from you. While awaiting that miracle that only you can perform, I wish you the very best of life.
Your admirer,Nwilo bura-Bari Vincent@saintvinny
