Sparks Still Flying: “I’d Love To Have Genevieve As My Wife” – D’banj

Posted on Updated on

In a recent interview, D’banj talked about his
career, Genevieve Nnaji & Don Jazzy.
The ‘Tongolo’ singer talked about Genevieve in
great length, suggesting that he still had a thing
for her, and even confirmed it later.
“Apart from the fact that she is my friend, she
has been a part of my success. There is no
way you are going to tell my story that
Genevieve’s name will not come up because
she featured in my biggest song of all time,
Fall in Love. So if E True Story comes to
Nigeria to interview me, she will definitely be
called upon to tell my story.”
“I would love to have Genevieve as my wife.
We never can tell what God plans for us in the
future. I have studied her and I realised that
anyone that has her as his woman has found
himself a treasure. Just like the Bible says,
any man who finds a wife, finds a good thing.”
The G.O.O.D music signee has plans to celebrate
10 years in the industry next year and is
thankful for a successful career.
“My career is barely 10 years old. But with the
success I have achieved so far, it feels like
three decades already. Within my first 10
years as a musician, I have recorded the
biggest song and shot the most viewed music
video of all time, ‘Oliver Twist’. I must say I
am humbled and getting ready to take over.”
He however didn’t forget to mention old friend
Don Jazzy, who he says is a key part of his
success.
If I say I don’t miss Don Jazzy, I am lying. I
have spent the better part of my career with
him. I was married to him in a way (laughs).
So I miss everything about Mo’Hits: the family,
the movement, and the vibe of being in the
studio with him. I miss the jokes and the
arguments, but I have since keyed into the
notion that nothing can stop a moving train.
“Nevertheless we can always do music
together. The track, ‘Top of the World’ was
produced by a Grammy Award Winner. The
songs ‘Finally’ and ‘Don’t Tell Me Nonsense’
was produced by my producer while ‘Oliver
Twist’ was produced by Don Jazzy. So, why
won’t I have him on my 10 years anniversary
album?

Am I His Mate? Genevieve Nnaji Threatens To Slap Skales

Posted on Updated on

The post below from MetroNaija make Lwkmd (Laugh wan kill me die)….. This is hilarious!!! Geneveive Nnaji has threaten to
slap EME singer, Skales If he mentions her name in
his lyrics again.
EME rapper, Skales probably never saw this coming.
Well incase you didn’t know Skales in a song titled
“no time” said that genevieve was top on his list
and he wants to give her the D, but now Skales
might get the ‘S’.
The far from happy star actress issued a statement
this morning to one of our reporters, and I quote:
“Can you imagine that boy telling me he wants to
give me the D ..what does he know, is the D
sef? ..that is by the way..the next time i hear him
mention my name in his lyrics again, I’m gonna give
him a dirty slap, he’ll never forget..what sort of
nonsense, am I his mate? how much does he have?”
Banky W was contacted but all he could say was“I
told Skales..upcoming artist don’t mention her name
in songs…now we have to go and beg all
together….Wizkid is already buying her gifts..we
cant spoil EME’s name, A slap on Skales is a slap on
the whole family”

On Genevieve and the “big” Elle.com Mention

Posted on Updated on

Having gotten email updates on Genevieve’s “next big crossover
International superstar” mention on elle.com (online website of Elle Magazine US) that has nigerian bloggers going on overdrive yesterday, I just sat to comb the web to see how well the news is being eaten up when I stumbled on a highly peculiar post that conveyed my thoughts titled; “Is Elle Magazine Naming Genevieve Nnaji ‘The Next Big Crossover’
Supposed to Be a Compliment??”
Earlier today doing my morning routine i.e. reading my newsfeed, I saw a latest news that Nigeria’s Genevieve Nnaji had been named ‘The Next Big Crossover’ international act by Elle Magazine. “Next big crossover?” What is that? I subsequently got to read the news story and all I can think to say is “crossover to where?” The Elle team seemed like they just cut and pasted headlines about Nnaji.
“America might have created the
blueprint for the modern world of
entertainment, but our stars are far
from the only ones in the galaxy.
Around the world, countries clamor
for luminaries from their own
hometowns. While some are content
to remain big fish in slightly smaller
ponds, every so often one takes off
and goes from star to supernova—a
true international superstar.” -Elle
The article goes on to name Nnaji as one of the 7 “true international stars.”
Elle editorial team, you guys, seriously? I am confused. I thought Nnaji was already a “true international star.” Didn’t Oprah identify her as an international star with her feature four years ago on the Oprah show?
Folks, if I had any doubt this article was
weird, at best, Elle had to lump Bollywood’s Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in
the mix. Former Ms. World, hello? Face of L’Oreal, Coca Cola and the list goes on, I think she already made the cut as a “true international star” like decades now, and has carried that till present. I mean the world knew when she got married and her having Abhishek’s baby was like the drama we saw with Beyonce and Jay-z and Prince William.
Unlike Nnaji’s, the part on Aishwarya at least says Rai has never attempted the US market. Weird because she has and when she gets on our red carpets, at least from prior film award events, it seems our tabloids, magazines et al go buzzing. Weird people at Elle.
Such rubbishing of Nnaji’s reputation, all in the name of a so called compliment and poorly written editorial.
Elle’s editorial barely even received any notice online BUT Nigerian bloggers have gone crazy with the Nnaji profile, thankfully on their platforms not Elle’s.
Elle does not deserve such pageviews, at all.

WONDER WOMAN: Abike Dabiri-Erewa Is The Iconic Cover Star Of Genevieve Magazine (August Edition)

Posted on Updated on

Hypothetically speaking, if we had to cast a
star for one of DC comics finest, Wonder
Woman, it would no doubt be based on
Nigerian female titan, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
We all know politics in Nigeria is indeed an
arena reserved for the brave hearted but Mrs
Abike Dabiri-Erewa has, through the
years, proven herself to be one hell of a fighter
in a male dominated world. Mrs Dabiri-Erewa
has stood her ground among many, a true
bona fide titan in the game.
The great woman of valour is aptly starred as
the Wonder Woman of Politics in Genevieve
Magazine’s August edition wearing lace on
lace – sexy but powerful. (View cover below)
In her interview with Genevieve magazine, she
gives a glimpse into her life and mind as a
political amazon. Taking a quote from the
magazine, Mrs Dabiri-Erewa says: “The men
are not going to step away and hand it to you
on a platter” – meaning you fight for equal
power strength for strength. We love this
woman and she inspires us a great deal.
