Yesterday was the 60-day mark of the ongoing ASUU strike and Nigerian students are tired of sitting at home!!!
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), on thursday issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal Government (FG) and the union’s leadership to resolve their differences or face corrosive consequences.
The students have vowed that they would take their destinies in their own hands if the parties failed to reconcile within a week and that they will go on a nation-wide riot in what it described as ‘operation occupy Nigeria’.
The students’ body appealed to ASUU to return to the classroom and continue negotiation with the Federal Government since the latter claimed to have released over N100 billion for infrastructural development and another N30 billion for allowances.
“We are giving them one week to open the schools or be ready to face corrosive consequences in form
of nation-wide demonstration and riots. We are ready to mobilise for that and it will be operation occupy Nigeria.”
Lamenting the effect of the strike, Obasi said students have become prone to accidents on the highways and the female students have been
reduced to s*x hawkers on the streets.
His words: “I stand to tell you that a lot of accidents have been recorded and 99.9% of the victims are Nigerian students. If they were in classrooms, they would not have fallen victims of road crashes. Our female students have become commercial s*x
hawkers on the streets in order to make ends meet. This colossal effect is more than what ASUU is agitating for. Hence, we can no longer fold our arms
and watch things go wrong.” The “resume work or we’ll cut off your salaries” threat made by the FG to ASUU resulted in the termination of ongoing negotiations; so I just wonder why Nigerian Students think threats would yield better result? I on the other hand understand their plight having stayed home for 3 months during the 2009 ASUU strike and another 3 months in 2011 when the bridge leading into my school collapsed….ijs.

Former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) Adaeze Yobo shared this picture of her hubby Nigerian Super

Nollywood star, Mercy Johnson was a year older yesterday and to celebrate this, she released the special message below.
Today, I thought of many things I would love to have as birthday gifts and the many dreams I am still pursuing. In all of this I’m not losing sight of the fact
that if not for God I might have ended up on the street like the many kids and young adults begging for food and some prostituting to make ends meet.
If we know the circumstances that force some of these people on the street, we would spare a thought for them. I am where I am today purely by
the grace of God and the grace of people who believed in me from the word go.
Recently, I was at the Boys Reform Home, Oregun, Lagos, the discussion I had with the principal Mr. Kotun and much later with the Special Adviser in
charge of al lremand homes in Lagos set me thinking about the boys and girls on the street. They have dreams too. Can they fulfill those dreams on
the street? The answer will likely be no; because I won’t be where I am today if I ended up on the street.
For this reason, Mercy Johnson Foundation will be doing a lot to get kids off the street. We are not asking people for money or donation, I will do all I can with the resources God has given me, and with the support of my husband to help get these kids off
the street and set them on the path where they can begin to pursue their dreams.
I want to plead with people, fans, friends and colleagues to spare a thought for the children on the
street. We can begin by educating people around us, parents, the children and people in charge of children (Oga-house help relationship, teacher-
student relationship, and others) on the need to treat every child like the future of Nigeria depends on it.
That is an initiative Mercy Johnson Foundation will be supporting and beyond that we will be going to
different states to help spread the message-Get kids off the street, save the future. From tomorrow, I will
begin to replay some of the lessons I learnt at the boys’ reform home and we all can contribute to getting the kids off the street.
I am grateful to everyone that has sent in a birthday message, tweet and gifts. Thank you and God bless you.
Mercy Johnson Okojie.

Hold on to your caps music lovers, cos this particular trick is a track to look out for cos its supposed to quite literarily blow you away…..ijs.
Singer Iyanya seems to be on a roll, barely weeks after signing with MTN for 60 million naira, the Kukere crooner has just reportedly signed a deal with Zinox computers for $350,000. FACT: Zinox Computers Founded in 2001 by a team of ICT Technocrats led by Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh, is the pioneer manufacturer of Nigeria’s First Internationally Certified Branded Computers.
Iyanya himself, quite astonished at the way his bank account is growing, tweeted “Money dey this country sha…” (for the ‘broken/pidgin english’ anaemics, he said “there really is money in this country”) which I now reply to with a “DUH”…… BTW, Congrats.
Although she didn’t come home with the BBA cash prize, Beverly Osu did gain a few things (including continent wide fame and acclaim) from her 3-month stay in the Big Brother house.
The video vixen has been courted by soft-porn star Afrocandy, who offered Bev a place in her next movie via an open tweet-letter. What do you guys think Bev’s reply is gonna be?
Can’t seem to decide if its mere coincidence or the universe subtly telling me to do a post on nigerian celebrity kids. Bottom line however is that I just stumbled across this Photo of Ice Prince’s cute son Jamaal having fun on the hood of daddy’s new white Bentley GT Coupe rumoured to be worth 40 million naira (this includes cost of shipping it into Nigeria), shortly after re-watching the hour long E! Special ‘Blinging Up Baby’……ijs. Newaize, see the photo below.
Nigeria’s representatives at the just concluded Big Brother Africa reality tv show, Melvin Oduah & Beverly Osu arrived home last night.
The duo, who made the last five but were unable to clinch the $300,000 grand prize, arrived at Muritala Muhammed International Airport at about 8pm and were welcomed by family, friends, well wishers and yes, fans.
A 21-year-old fashion designer, simply identified as Kemi, committed suicide after an alleged derogatory comment from her mother, identified as Mummy Kemi, in Isale Asa Ilorin, Kwara State.
According to sources, Kemi lived with her parents till the time of her death and was said to have committed suicide with locally-made rat
poison traditionally known as sole lasan after a disagreement with her mother.
In the course of the quarrel, Mummy Kemi was reported to have called her daughter a complete failure and a disgrace to the family.
The lady, who was said to have been angered over her mother’s uncomplimentary comment, went into her room.
It was said that her mother, after the quarrel, went to her grinding machine shop which was nearby.
The source said, “When Mummy Kemi came in about 30 minutes later and saw that kemi was writhing in pains.”
It was learnt that suspecting that the lady had taken some poison, sympathisers rushed her to a nearby clinic for medical treatment.
The clinic officials were said to have advised them to go to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
She, however, died before she could be taken to the hospital.
The state command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olufemi Fabode, could not be reached as his telephone number indicated that his number was not available.
This is a clear cut example of why parents and children alike should learn to weigh the effects their words would have before uttering them. Although, one would expect Kemi uses her Mums criticisms to fuel her ambition in hopes of proving the woman wrong…..ijs cos given the circumstances, that’s exactly what I’ll do.
Umar Tanko Al-Makura, the governor of Nasarawa State, has denied speculations doing the rounds that he used over 1.5 billion naira from the state treasury for his son’s wedding
ceremony which took place in the United States about a week ago; Governor Al-Makura called them malicious and silly.
Sani Musa Mairiga, the senior special assistant of Governor Al-Makura, announced in a press statement where Governor Umar Tanko Al-Makura described the allegations as baseless,
unwarranted and unfounded. “This is the handiwork of mischief makers and enemies of progress for inflaming the social media with incongruous reports
that the state government sponsored the wedding ceremony and shouldered all expenses of those who attended the wedding Fatihat of Abdul Tanko Al-
Makura and his bride Aneesa”.
The press statement further put rational scrutiny on how such a stupendous amount of money would be spent on wedding sponsorship when the state receives about the same amount in monthly allocation from the federation account.
“How on Earth would a wedding ceremony consume such amount of money which amounts to 70 per
cent of the monthly allocation that is accrued to the state from the federation account? Al-Makura was not
a pauper before becoming governor, so spending such amount of money from his personal account is nothing, but as a prudent and accountable leader he cannot afford that extravagance” the
He therefore urged members of the public to “disregard the misrepresentations of facts made to
hoodwink them in order to achieve the cheap political goals of his enemies” and appealed to the people of
Nasarawa State to give their maximum support to the government of Umar Tanko Al-Makura in its quest to transform the state.
Graduates have taken over most car wash businesses in Kaduna metropolis to end their endless search for formal/white collar jobs. Reports state that the operators make brisk business and smile to the banks.

He said, “i would not go to work for anyone if offered a job now, with 8 persons working for me.”
Mr kelechi Humphrey, who graduated from the University of Abuja in 2009 now runs a car washing outfit at Barnawa area of the city, said
he makes as much as N120, 000 a month. He told NAN that he charges between N300 and N500 depending on the nature of the car, and makes an average of N4000 daily.
Humphrey advised unemployed youths to utilise their time positively, instead of resorting to acts that would be inimical to their future.
Mr John Vatt, a patron said his street was bad and needed to wash his car before going out everyday, and commended the initiative of the youth in setting up car wash businesses.
Another patron, Ahmed Usman, said car washing centres were contributing significantly to reducing unemployment and urged the
government to create a special fund to support them.

Reports state that a Peaceful protest organized by Nigerian Students in
Delta State over the continuous Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike turned bloody as police allegedly fired tear gas and gunshots at students to prevent them from

of Delta State University Abraka, Agboroli Joshua and other students on their way to Asaba along the expressway before the Asaba International Airport.
“After much trouble and intervention the arrested students were released. Despite the police effort to obstruct our peaceful rally, we finally succeeded in
conveying at summit junction where we intended moving on to the SSG’s office along Okpanam road by Zenith Bank where we wanted register our
grievances to the government. It was at that point that the police said we should not move further.
“One Mr Ifeanyi Emmanuel of the Nigeria police Asaba then ordered the police to shoot at harmless students who were going about their protest
peacefully. He said the order to shoot at the students was an instruction from an ‘Oga at the Top’ whom he later identified as Delta State Commissioner of Police.”
